Last Week My Brother Anthony Died
Published in School & Library Binding by Abingdon Press (October, 1990)
Authors: Randie Julien, Martha Whitmore Hickman, and Randi Julien
Average review score:

Last Week My Brother Anthony Died
This is a sad story. It is very touching and sensitive. This would be a good book to share with a child that has lost a loved one, but should not be used out of that context. It might help a young child cope with the death of a loved one and maybe understand that it is okay to miss them, but it is also okay to go on with their own life.

Lee Sr. Falls to the Floor
Published in Paperback by Jahbone Pr (September, 1991)
Author: Leland Hickman
Average review score:

Harrowing and funny -- one of the '90s best books
Lee Hickman was best known to a community of experimental poets as the editor of Temblor; his editorial eye made each issue of the magazine a basic practicum on the state of the poetic arts in America. His early death cut short the projected length of the sequences that make up Lee Sr Falls to the Floor, but the poems that are presented make the case for Hickman as one of the most sensitive and serious lyricists of his generation. Standing in alternately as Tiresias or a new army recruit, Hickman's language veers between terror and hilarity, a life going around hairpin turns, recognizing in advance but unable to alter the trajectory the poet's life has taken. Lee Sr Falls to the Floor is one of a handful of poetry books published in the '90s that is an absolute must-read.

Living in My Skin: The Insider's View of Life With a Special Needs Child
Published in Paperback by Communication Skill Builders (May, 2000)
Author: Lori A. Hickman
Average review score:

A MUST for all friends/family/professionals of special kids
Don't miss the opportunity to read/own this book! Demand that Amazon get and retain a supply! It is a very affirming and touching view of the intensity, heartbreak, misunderstandings and isolation and triumphs families face with special needs kids. It underscores the need for better education and better empathy on the parts of family, friends and the professionals providing treatment (which sometimes looks/feels more like blame). This book belongs on the coffee table of every professional and in the homes of everyone touched by, living with or associated with a special needs child. There is not another book like it on the planet!

Mehmed the Conqueror and His Time
Published in Paperback by Princeton Univ Pr (19 October, 1992)
Authors: Franz Babinger, Ralph Manheim, and William C. Hickman
Average review score:

Epic historytelling
An outstanding biography of Mehmed II and a disturbing history of his time. Historians rarely depict their subjects in such a thrilling manner as does Babinger. Everything is told: mass executions, doublecrossings, and the insatiable greed for power. This history is crucial to the better understanding of the current conflict in the former Yugoslavia.

A New Butterfly : My First Look at Metamorphosis (My First Look at Nature)
Published in Hardcover by Kids Can Press (August, 1997)
Authors: Pamela Hickman and Heather Collins
Average review score:

A Fun Book!
The main format of this book follows the same pattern as "The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly." In addition to that story line, the book has flaps that you open to reveal more text and pictures. This is where the concepts of metamorphosis, as well as some extra information, are written. I purchased the book for my four-year-old nephew who wants me to read it to him over and over again. He loves to lift the flaps. We also look for the squirrel and other items that are repeated on each page. It's very fun for him now, and when he's a bit older, he'll be able to read this book for the factual information and learn from it. As a teacher, I would recommend it for an elementary classroom.

A New Frog : My First Look at the Life Cycle of an Amphibian (My First Look at Nature)
Published in Hardcover by Kids Can Press (April, 1999)
Authors: Pamela Hickman and Heather Collins

Excellent Book for Beginners in Reading!
As a school librarian-teacher I have used this book with children for its excellent content as an early non-fiction science book. It also has a wonderful repetitive reading style that is beneficial to new readers. The illustrations are warm and alive. All my students love the book and that says it all!!!

The Organization Game: An Interactive Business Game Where You Make or Break the Company
Published in Paperback by Prentice Hall Trade (September, 1995)
Author: Craig R. Hickman
Average review score:

A must-read
As a decision game expert, I really enjoyed Hickman's work. The book reads as a novel but is in fact an interactive exercise on administration, that not only gives you a lot of knowledge in the subject, but also let you experiment the options by yourself. Hickman favor some solutions to others, but I did agree with his best solutions. The book is a page-turner.

Painless Science Projects
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (August, 2002)
Authors: Faith Hickman Brynie and Faith Hickman Brynie
Average review score:

A first resource
This is the science project book we wish we had found first. It is not a list of project ideas, like other books. Instead, it is a very practical guide to doing a science project. How to break a big idea down into a managable project. How the parents can be sure to let the student do the work and benefit from the experience. Full of good tips, warnings of impending mistakes, and a very good reference on what a science project is all about. I'm also sure that science teachers would be impressed with its informative and guiding style and could easily make use of the book as a student reference for any project.

Pharaoh: Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Fantasy Adventure Module
Published in Paperback by Random House Trade Paperbacks (May, 1983)
Author: Tracy Hickman
Average review score:

One of best desrt adventures of all time
One of the most respected AD&D adventures of all time, this one marks Tracy & Laura Hickman's entry to the TSR fold. Later, due to the dramatic plotting exhibited here, they would be asked to help create a series of novels and modules known as Dragonlance... the spirit of Amun-re swirls before you in the sands, beseeching you to plunder his tomb. Why? And how can anyone but the nomads survive in this savage desert where giant spiders burrow in the sands, the sun blasts the earth to crystal, and the efreeti reign supreme? Well, that's not my problem, I'll let your players handle that... :) An extremely challenging classic for levels 5-7.
